The 9 Days / 8 Nights Northern Circuit Route is one of the longest and most scenic routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It offers excellent acclimatization, quieter trails, stunning views of the northern slopes, and a gradual approach to the summit. The route circles around the northern side of the mountain before joining the summit path, giving climbers more time to adjust to the altitude and enjoy Kilimanjaro’s diverse landscapes.

After breakfast, drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate for registration and park formalities. From the gate, continue to the trailhead and begin your trek through the beautiful montane rainforest. Today you leave the rainforest behind and gradually enter the moorland zone. The trail climbs toward the Shira Plateau, with beautiful views of Kilimanjaro's western slopes. After breakfast, trek across the spectacular Shira Plateau toward Shira 2 before continuing toward Moir Hut. Today you continue around the northern side of Kilimanjaro. The trail passes through remote alpine terrain with dramatic views across the mountain. Today you gradually climb toward School Hut, your final camp before the summit attempt. The landscape becomes increasingly barren as you approach the high-altitude zone. Begin the summit climb early, ascending through the steep and challenging terrain toward the crater rim. Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa.
Celebrate your achievement at the summit and take in the spectacular views. After experiencing the dramatic high-altitude crater environment, begin your descent toward the southern slopes. Depending on the itinerary and weather conditions, you may make a short return toward the summit area before continuing down. After breakfast, begin the final descent through the lush rainforest toward Mweka Gate. At the gate, complete the park formalities and collect your summit certificate. You will then meet your vehicle and transfer back to Moshi, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
